November 24, 2004 Sponsored by Kimberly Brown. Kimberly has been very generous to CFN with donations of her hand made ferret beds and bandanas. This is the second ferret Kimberly has sponsored. Bobbi Sue arrived in February of 2002 with her lifelong cagemate. At 4.5 years of age it was unlikely the pair would ever be adopted but they did go to a foster home in May of 2003. Bobbi Sue's cagemate died in November of 2003, but she still had the company of the foster parent's younger ferret. In 2004 Bobbi Sue started showing signs of insulinoma and adrenal disease. She was put on medication to help with her low blood sugar and was getting supplemental feedings. She did ok for quite awhile, but in September while we were on vacation she crashed and had to be hospitalized. The vet found out she had an abscessed tooth so even though we hadn't wanted to put her through surgery, we had to remove the tooth. Bobbi Sue came back to live at the shelter so we could keep a closer eye on her and she could be closer to needed vet care. She made it through the surgery to remove the tooth, remove tumors from her pancreas and remove one of her adrenal glands. She has grown back a beautiful soft dark coat of fur and is doing very well, but still has below normal blood sugar so she will need to go back on medication again. |
