Eliza
May 29, 2004

Eliza was sponsored for Tamie Alcock as a present from her daughter Teresa.

Eliza arrived in the summer of 2003 with three other ferret companions after they were abandoned in a garage with along with some cats and dogs. A Good Samaritan rescued them and turned them over to the Oregon Humane Society. They were thin and infested with ear mites. Eliza had an ugly, weepy, marble sized growth on her left hind leg that had to be surgically removed. We thought that Eliza was only a few years old, but she has been disturbingly inactive so we have had her tested to see if she had low blood sugar or not. Her glucose level was below normal, so she has been stared on prednisone to help regulate her blood sugar levels. She also is having problems with loose stools and has been put on a special prescription diet, which has helped, but because of her tendency to have low blood sugar we are also supplementing her diet with soup twice each day which she really looks forward to. Her sponsorship will help pay for the special diet and medications she will need for the rest of her life.

Eliza passed away in January of 2005. Her sponsorship was moved to Ione.
