December 29, 2002 Nancy Winter, a long time ferret savior, is Fresco's sponsor. Nancy has a soft spot for the special needs kids and has adopted several paralyzed ferrets over the years that needed their bladders manually expressed several times each day. Fresco's sponsorship was a holiday gift. Nancy had to do more than just donate money though, so she made Fresco a sumptuous hammock sleep sack set. Fresco had adrenal surgery to remove his left adrenal gland on April 17th, 2003, thanks to a "charity" surgery by Dr. Ramsell. She was anxious to do the surgery because of a mass she palpated on his spleen. Biopsies taken at that time indicated Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as Helicobacter. He also had insulinoma tumors removed. Currently he is on medications to eliminate the Helicobacter and then he will start treatment for the IBD, which will likely last the rest of his life. He is just now strating to grow in new fur and should be very adorable in a of couple weeks. |
