Hattie
December 19, 2003, January 7, 2005

Hattie was sponsored (along with Zima) as a Christmas present for Jennifer Sargent from her mother. Jennifer is a college student at OIT and can't have pets. A sponsorship is what she wanted for Christmas. Her mom said they have had two "wonderful ferret family members in the past, both gone now, so this will help fill in the empty spot until she can have and foster her own again."

Hattie, now 7 years of age, was very lucky to go directly into foster care upon her arrival and has been there ever since. Her foster mom refers to her as "New York Hattie" and enjoys her frequent kisses. Hattie has had some ups and downs in her health, but is currently on medication for insulinoma and is doing well.

February 2005: Hattie continues to defy expectations and keeps going and going. She is pretty frail now and completely bald but she loves her soup and her foster parent. She got a melatonin implant recently, so that might stimulate her hair regrowth.
