Special Needs Sponsor Anna Wellborne and Mike Eadie

Anna and Mike found a stray ferret many years ago and brought it to CFN. Ever since then they have been devoted supporters of the ferrets in the network. They were the sponsors of Possum from 2003 until his recent death in early 2007. They came to visit him during an open house and have sent him cards and special gifts throughout the years. Now that Possum is gone, they have become one of the special needs sponsors of Zima and another old timer, Sophie, as well as long time sponsors for Annie.

Zima should have been adopted, but her vet exam exposed a heart murmur and that along with cataracts and being deaf has discouraged most people from considering her for adoption. In addition, she has decided that all ferrets she did not get to know soon after her arrival are her mortal enemies. All of them have been adopted except for Loki, so the two of them have been a pair for more than a year now and anyone wanting to adopt Zima would need to take Loki as well. Zima's heart murmur is stable and doesn't cause her any problems. Her blindness and deafness do not hamper her enjoyment of life and she and Loki are favorites with shelter volunteers.

February 2005: Zima has been doing great in the foster home she went to near the end of 2004. She currently has a gorgeous coat of lush white fur. She recently saw an eye specialist who diagnosed her with glaucoma. She was put on some eye drops which have made a significant improvement in her condition, but she will continue to need the drops for a long time still. She just lost her cagemate of many years, Loki, so she doesn't have any close ferret friends and doesn't really want any either.
